“On Cognition for Autonomous Vehicles through Localization in 6D.”
Anuj Gupta (PM, Sensor Fusion)
Anuj is the co-founder and product manager at Civil Maps. He graduated from IIT Kharagpur in 2010 and started working with Fabien & Sravan, who he had met at UC Berkeley during his internship in 2008, with the aim to reduce train collisions and delays. This partnership resulted in a contract from Indian Railways to driver display unit for electric locomotives. A bigger market was being created in the US, one of the autonomous cars, and he realized that the vision based technology for trains can be applied to drive the cars autonomously. Anuj then moved to the US in late 2014 and started working with Sravan & Fabien to set up Civil Maps at Berkeley.
At Civil Maps, Anuj has lead teams to develop & deliver 3D Semantic Maps and Localization software in the last 12 months. He is now working on crowdsourcing the map information that will enable autonomous vehicle adoption at a continental scale. His vision is a connected world where autonomous robots work in sync to create an efficient world with increased quality of human life.
