Significant Growth at Civil Maps Drives Expansion of Leadership Team

By Sravan Puttagunta, Co-founder & CEO of Civil Maps

We are excited to announce two new additions to our executive team. Civil Maps welcomes Nagesh Gupta and Paul Drysch, experts in connected vehicles and deep learning applications, to lead the company’s next level of growth in developing cognition software for autonomous driving. At Civil Maps, we are pioneering a scalable approach for self-driving cars that localize in 6D and create maps on the edge, significantly reducing the traditionally prohibitive cost of map creation and usage. Nagesh and Paul’s combined experience comes at a time of rigorous product development and progressive customer engagement stemming from our successes with automotive OEMs this year. Nagesh will lead the engineering team towards even greater technical leadership in the autonomous vehicle space. Paul will be instrumental in driving customer adoption and awareness about our services in the global marketplace.

Nagesh Gupta Civil Maps' VP of EngineeringNagesh joins as vice president of engineering, after founding Auviz Systems, which he sold to Xilinx. At Xilinx, Nagesh directed teams focusing on deep learning and computer vision-based solutions for auto OEMs and tier-one suppliers. He is charged with growing and leading the company’s global engineering efforts across our headquarters in San Francisco and offices in Asia. Nagesh’s teams at Civil Maps are advancing several technologies necessary for autonomous driving: localization, edge computing, perception, sensor fusion, synthetics, and augmented reality. Nagesh holds a B.S. from India’s Birla Institute of Technology and Science and a M.S. from the University of Kansas.

Paul Drysch Civil Maps' VP of Sales & Business DevelopmentPaul comes aboard as vice president of sales and business development. He has a proven track record for excellence in sales leadership, earned while working at Cisco, Ingram Micro, and Honda, as well as high-growth companies such as RideCell and Jasper. Building upon an existing customer base of OEMs with aggressive level 4 and level 5 driving initiatives based in the North America, Europe, and Asia, Paul is responsible for overseeing existing accounts and expanding new business opportunities. He is also entrusted with driving strategic partnerships and customer accounts across a broad range of mobility companies and mapping providers as well as truck, bus, and heavy equipment producers, all of whom are also pursuing fully autonomous vehicle development. Paul is based in our San Francisco office and from there he will be growing a team of geographically diverse sales executives around the world.

Concurrent with these new hires, Civil Maps’ sustained growth has compelled another change. The San Francisco team has recently moved from downtown to a larger location in the North Point neighborhood of the city.
